CANCELLED : Riverside Festival 2012
Stamford Town Council and Riverside Festival Organisers had to call off Riverside Festival 2012 at the last minute due to safety concerns following the heavy rain overnight on 5 July. The site suffered from flooding in various places, including within the St John Ambulance marquee, and there was a concern that if it continued to rain there was a danger that the rivers surrounding the Festival site might overflow.
Vehicles could not use the site on 6 July which meant that the organisers could not continue with preparations for the Festival, and reluctantly had to call off the entire Festival.
We are currently in the process of liaising with the insurers about the cancellation of the festival, and will continue to try to keep the people affected updated.
If you have purchased tickets for the event, please contact us / Stamford Arts Centre in order to arrange for a refund. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the cancellation of the Festival.
“The Riverside Festival is a wonderfully-popular event in Stamford and showcases the breadth of musical talent we have in this area. It attracts a wide range of visitors who enjoy the huge variety of acts and attractions on show, all available against the beautiful backdrop of The Meadows.
“The festival is a great asset for the town and long may it continue!”
Eileen Green – Editor Stamford Mercury – 13th April 2012
